Default Painfully slow acceleration on my 95 civic .please help?

Hey guys.i have a 95 civic sedan lx.with auto trans.
My problem is that my car is so so slow to pick up speed.
Getting to 40 takes so long..lol also the auto trans is shifting really hard and I don't think it's shifting at the right time..

Now this car has very high mileage..around 295k..

But I've done some maintenance to it since I bought it..I've changed oil,air filter, spark plugs, and alternator.and it seems so have helped a bit..

And when I accelerate the pedal seems to be sticky...like its hard for me to push in the gas pedal.and when I try to get onto the freeway it's really dangerous.like I'm flooring it trying to get to 65 at least..

So please can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance

I cleaned the throttle cable with degreaser stuff.and it kind of helped the pedal be less sticky.but still pushin the gas pedal in takes much effort

The problem is it is Automatic, they are slow. Solution is to swap to a manual.

Do the appropriate maintanence for its age, clean whatever you can. However, its most likely this thing is a 1.5L engine trying to pull a fairly weighty body. (Sedan weighs more than the Coupe or hatch). Car is designed for economy not trying to avoid being run over. A manual transmission will improve some things, but with that many miles, you're probably better off getting a swap to a bigger engine of sorts or perhaps rebuilding the one you have.

Automatic civics are slow, that is all.

Can someone get doctor *** out of here with his childish remarks?
Honda tech never fails..always some kid with stupid answers..

And no I haven't changed the tranny fluid but I guess I will if I have to..
Is there anything maintenance wise I should do ? Other than what I've already done to it?
This isn't a race car it's my dd..I just want enough pick up to get in and out of the freeway.

I fail to see how I am being childish, I am simply replying to your comment. It is well known that an automatic civic is horribly slow.

I'll spare you the auto jokes. I'll leave that for the kids. Have you checked for a misfire? If it's hard for you to push the pedal, is sounds like the throttle cable is seizing or where it attached to the throttle body is sticking (the name of that part slips my mind). Take a look at that and see if the issue is there. You can clean the throttle cable all you like but if it's seizing on the inside of the covering there isn't much you can do but replace it.

Clean IAC and FITV if not already done. RonJ has some nice write ups for those and the joys of changing the Trans fluid. (I cant attest to the trans fluid/filter because I have a manual ex, but reading those threads are definately worthwhile to your cause)

Yes dude I know they are slow.
I'm asking how to fix acceleration.
Like getting onto a freeway.
My car has hella miles so I thought maybe its the engine.
And if you read my above post I said I was having trouble with the auto trans not shifting properly and need help with that also.

I need answers better than autos are slow nuff said.
