What kind of quality are you looking for? If you're looking for STS legal ones then you can just run some dryer hose under the front end and take off the splash guard for the brake rotor and route it there. If you're talking about getting some custom done stuff then you're probably going to have to cut the front bumper, do some bondo/fiberglass work, vent the wheel well and seal off that area from going into the engine bay.

I don't need it for auto-x, the breaks never get that hot in a run. I'm doing this for track days. However, I would like to stay in STS so I can't do to much in the area of custom rebuild body parts. I think I got it figure out what I'm going to do, thanks.

57STS: I noticed in your sig that you are running the 16x7.5 K-1s. I just picked up a set used for my 5th gen for autoX. What tires are you running on them? Do you have any rubbing issues?

I'm a little concerned about the low offset (+43). I wish they came in something like a +48mm. I am getting the 215/45/16 Azenis' mounted on them this week, and I'm praying that I won't rub...

Andrew - who is sorry for Hi-jacking your brake duct thread

I have 225/40/16's on them right now and no rubbing what so ever! They fit great. I think I'm going to get Azenis for next year though, they should also have no rubbing. I think U will have room to spare..

Please excuse my long reply--
You say that you are planning on doing track day events. I will assume you plan to go to Summit point or Beaver Run, considering where you are. If you go to Watkins Glen or Pocono as I do then you may have a more serious concern.
My 99 runs just fine without ducting at these tracks. What I did find at The Glen was that the pads and fluid reached a very high temp point and in the end it was the pads themselves that were the problem. Make sure that you have upgraded the pads to a set of AEM/Nissin as a minimum and that they are at or close to 100% thickness at the start of a long day. My stock pads were not up to the task and had 60% lining on a 90+ degree day. I replaced the pads and no problems were encountered at Pocono-we did not machine the stock rotors either.
Whatever you do-make sure to slowly bed the pads in-this will make things a lot better overall. Honda techs recommended to me to do a series of stops from 40 mph to 0 between 3 sets of traffic lights. Drive the car gently for a while to let them cool if possible and repeat this process 3 more times. You can simulate this by going to a mall parking lot that circles the place and setting up a short course.

This is my experience on a group of tracks where there are some very serious speed changes. The Glen is challenging in that you must use the brakes at the end of both the front and back straights where you are decelerating from over 100 to some much slower speed. Pocono, on the SCCA course using NASCAR 1&2, will have the entry to the North infield speed going from around 110 to 40 and a second braking point to 30. These are examples from my experience in 2 very fast tracks. Summit Point has similar situations where you will be on the brakes for a time and the cooling is not as long.
All things considered, I see little reason to go with major ducting. You can fabricate replacement backing plates with scoops of some sort. The alternative is to use different pads (AEM, PF or Hawk) and brake fluid. Performance Friction brake fluid is compatible with Honda brakes and is not as sensitive to condensation as several other brands, yet it does raise the boiling point. Last thing-do a full brake system flush and fill at least once per season and more frequently if you are going to the track more than a few times.

thanks for the info!! I have been running at beaverun because it's only 1hr drive to the track. There is a turn at the end of the back strait were U go from about 120mph down to a tite 2nd gear turn. After about 20min of track time my breaks fade. I'm trying to get this fading to a min. I do need new pad (not sure what ones to go with yet), and I'm going to set up some break ducts as a little project (fun).
