need help on tip-in tuning from you guys!
hey all, im not "new" to this but it has been a while since ive done it last. im having a problem with the tip-in i take it. when tipping in it studders then jumps up in rpm. its a turbo b18b (only reason im not going through full setup detail is because it doesnt pertain so much where as my problem is tip in. i have 525 precision injectors (which are delphi 525cc, precision markets them). using crome basic, made a simple base map with boost, scaled the injectors (was like ~.480 525/240) right now i have the tip in at 0.820 and the addtl tip-in at 0.820 as well. looked in the advanced tables at injector offset and had start right up being at 21, moved it gradually up to 30 but still see no difference. sooo im just wondering what you guys have in your advanced fuel adjusted box settings with injectors the same size or really close to mine. this is really getting on my nerves. and i still have no wideband yet, didnt figure i would need it to figure who to make it idle and tip in lol
Have you tried raising tip-in fuel value?? Around 1.00 or so.
Also, what is the tip-in ignition retard set at? Im not too familiar with Crome, so IDK if they have this setting.

Well I started out at 1.00 and the problem was there, so I dusted lowering it thinking it was getting too much. I may start to raise it next time. It had some tune on it before (which I thought was done with crome) but its soo rich at idle you can smell it and lopes at idle. With my tune it doesn't lope and it doesn't smell overly rich, its just on tipping in it wants to cut out. Ugh. Crome basic doesn't have the tip in ignition adjustment like that but its just running on stock ign maps with .75 degree retard per psi of boost. I tried to pull the bin from the "rich"chip but in the advanced fuel tools box its all 1.000 so that's not much help. 525cc injectors with a 1.000 multiplier, doesn't add up and it shows no injector off set
You can try pulling an additional 5-10 degrees in the high load/low RPM columns. Around idle-2500rpm and -5" vac to atmospheric.

it was loping from richness, on the tune that was in it when i received it. it ran ok, but was rich and loped at idle from it (you could smell the unburnt fuel lol). the problem was in when i tried to make my own map i never had so much trouble with hesitation. I got it though, i think it had mismatch injectors from the start, some of the pn's were different although the scribes werent. any ways, borrowed some 440's, still had the same problem at first (guess my math was wrong on the offset). tried everything else, then started bumping up the offset (started at 19.00) and it was cleared up by the time i reached 34.00.

Blind tuning leads to blown motors. If it was so rich the engine was loping, running like that for long enough will wash the cylinders.

You have to tune out your fuel map first before trying to dial in your transient throttle corrections. You will never get those right until your fuel map is nailed down.
