What's up guys ..

So I have a d16y8 that has a disappearing knock/tap. It's very weird, once it gets warmer, it gets quieter. Also, when it gets quieter, and i rev the engine, it gets louder, but then higher rpms it goes away.

So by now, I checked compression, 175-180-180-175 ... today i hooked up the oil pressure gauge (mechanical) .. once it was warm (fan went on twice), at idle, read between 5-9 psi, didnt quite reach 10 and at 3k it wasnt about 35 psi max when it should be 50 psi. I also checked the valve clearance, about 4 valves were perfect, the other 12 were either so tight that i couldnt fit the feeler gauge in or a little loose.

After a lot of thinking and talking to people, I am really leaning towards a weak oil pump. The motor that I put in, I am unaware of the previous condition and not sure how long it was sitting, so not sure if it is clogged up or the rotors in the pump are shot or gummed up.

Any ideas guys?!
