Default Really low idle

My car has an extremely low idle and its been driving me nuts. Ive tweaked the idle cable multiple times ans it always goes back to the low idle. Family members of the previous owner( who is dead) keep telling me he designed it to have a low idle but i just dont believe that. Why would you want that? Its so low it almost dies on me. Fluctuates between 0 and 3 to 5 hundred rps. Any ideas on what could fix it?

Have you adjusted the idle screw idle should NOT be controlled by the TC.

Agreed. adjust the idle screw. Idle should be 450 at temp with no load if i'm not mistaken.

"There is a process to adjusting the idle...it's not just a turn of a screw kind of thing.

You have to jump the service connector
Uplug the IACV
Now you can turn the screw
Plug everything back in
Reset the ecu"

^got that info from googling.

No its simpler than that. mess with the idle srew then calibrate the TPS that list didn't even mention the most important thing. Op idle should be 750rpm +/- 50
