Default Cruise Control Mystery (solved)

Hi all,

I know this is a common topic, and I have scoured the forums for a thread relevant to my problem and have found none. Please lend an ear and give some pointers if you have any ideas...

I have a 2000 Civic coupe with the standard D16Y8. When I activate the cruise control I get both the dash and cluster lights on, but no cruise whatsoever. Per the service manual's recommendations, here are the diagnostic steps I've taken so far:

Dash switch: has continuity and bulbs are functional
Wheel switch: has specified continuity as well

The lemon:
Control unit under dash: the input wires are NOT in the same cavities as the service manual says they should be, but it looks like a factory install. No tampering evident.

Have any of you run into this? Would you be willing to check your cable inputs against the service manual to see if they match up? Thanks a bunch.

The car is stick, and I have tested in 5th gear while going over 45mph. It doesn't kick in at all.

All the fuses are good.

UPDATE, and important question: I checked my vacuum lines more thoroughly and discovered that the input line to the vacuum tank that feeds the cruise actuator was just hanging loose in the engine bay.

Does anyone know where that line attaches to a vacuum source in the engine compartment? I have the service manual but cannot find it. Thanks.

Missed a vacuum connection. It was the reservoir to intake line. Silly me.
