i don't think it would be a good idea..i have heard the GSR head is the worst flowing heads of all of them.

mike

p.s. might be a little more difficult to wire up to because of the secondary butterflies

Its fine, it'll be slightly higher compression than a b16 head. If its boosted its flow rate wont matter. As for it being one of the worst, I seriously doubt that, look at the ls for that.

Its way more economical to boost an ls than to build an lsvtec.

no vtec heads arent all the same.. as far as gsr heads being bad i really hope someone will belive this crap and give me one since they suck...

gsr heads flow bench less but make more compression AND more power... this has been proven on a dyno by import builders... gsr cams are more aggresive than b16a cams.. if your on a budget find a b16 head.. if not the a gsr head... if you have $ to burn then get an R head

basically in a run down 1gen b16a heads i would stay away from UNLESS you rebuild them... they are old and have smaller throttle bodies and single valve springs.. second gen are much better

b16a b17a and b18c5 heads are all pretty much the same head the difference is the cam and springs/valves

gsr head is pretty much unique

i was talking about VTEC heads, i figured if he was doing an LS/VTEC he would need a VTEC head

anyways, if these guys say its worth it, go for it!

For a properly built ls/vtec it doesn't make a huge difference in which head you pick. You'll need new high compression slugs to make this thing worth the money it costs to do it and since you're tearing it down and rebuilding you'll be able to pick your compression ratio (ie itr, ctr, je slugs, thin headgasket, mill head, etc)

Ok listen i have a ls/vtec with a gsr head. I went from the b16 head to the gsr are because of it's higher compression and better flow potential. Go to importreview.com all the info you want is on there. It's by Jeff from importbuilders and he has dyno numbers of the b16 head and gsr head decide for yourself.

the b18c5 head is the same casting as a b16a yes.. however it is hand ported by a honda technician with better valve springs, lighter valves, better intake mani, larger tb than any usdm tb, and more aggresive cams... so no the gsr head wont make more power than a b18c5.. i just meant it had the same bolt patterns and fit the same as a b16....

and thats actually good to know about the head thank you for correcting me on that.. they do however have smaller throttle bodies and less aggresive cams so they arent as good as an sir2 head out of the box...

P72/B18C, I like that head and manifold way better... It may not flow as well but who gives a **** when you port/polish it. Plus you get the snail manifold that a lot of people really don't like.. Laterz
