Default BMW RollCage Build!

Wanted to share some fab pics! My brother and I are building a cage for his E36 Shop Car. So far i'm VERY happy with the design and the way it's turning out. We are def. taking our time and trying to get everything right. It's not finished and we still have alot of work to do.

These are the front boxes

Rear boxes or "plinths" lmao for the main hoop.

Main hoop fits great!

The cage will be Tig Welded so we are making sure the notching is Spot On!

We ran low on tube so I took the E39 to pick some up! Turn's out the bimmer can fit 10ft lengths quite well!

Nice work, the fit looks very good. How are you going to weld on the top side? Drop it through the floor?

Roll fit up is looking damn good, should be killer when you are done.

And Ritzblitz with the boxes section you can usually just slide the cage foward and it will drop to the floor to access the tops, you might use a mirror to help with sight.

Can't wait for finished pics.

Cool idea with the boxes (new info for me). With Fox Mustangs, you just cut the top off the car like you are doing a chop, do the cage welds, and then weld the top back on.

Awesome work, I'm rarely impressed by cage work but you really have this thing done right. It should really firm up the chassis (god knows those things need it). Nice welding and fit up too.

are you drafting the cage in any software to get your bends down before hand or is this all really good estimation based on some measurements?

It comes down to your inspector. If done right they are more sound than a 6x6 plate on the floor. The way the rules are written they aren't explicitly allowed which means if they want to they can say it's not acceptable. That said I have seen many cars pass with very similar mounts.

we make templates out of some sleeved tubing and then transfer those degree of bends onto the chromoly

Thanks Guys! I modeled the Main Hoop and A-pillar bars in Bend Tech Pro. It got the A-pillar bars close but to get them to fit like that we made new ones. The first ones helped see how much angle and rotation was really needed.

Edit: No there isin't anyone named Justin building it. Just me and my brother.

Those pillar bars are spot on. So tricky to get a fit like that.
