My theory on bad idle with DSM's and "the hack"
Ok, for those of you who have been reading my posts, I have been having trouble with my injectors and S-AFC. It idles bad and hesitates right when I punch it. Anyway, I'm on my way home tonight and one of my spark plug wires falls of my dist (don't ask). Luckily, I had about 1/4 mile to my house. When I got home, I noticed my car was running the exact same way as when the DSM's are in. So, my theory is that one of my injectors is not working even though they are rebuilt. Everyone tell me if I'm retarded or somewhat smart. Is there a way to test my DSM's? Thanks
it's not just you who has the problem... so i dont think everyone who has that problem has a faulty injector.
it might also be because you are running rich/bad o2 sensor. What fuel pressure are you running?as a side note: do not boost if you suspect one of your injectors is not working! you are killing a cylinder...to test it, partially, let the car idle and place the blade of a screwdriver on the injector and put your ear on the handle, thus you should hear a clicking sound from each injector, if not; one is gone.
Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I haven't driven with my DSM's installed, just idled. I was sure not to boost on my way home with my CEL. Thanks though.
This is a problem we have to get figured out since there's numerous people with it. Is it a software (S-AFC, ecu) or hardware (injector, wiring, resistor) problem.

so its running on 3 cylinders? start pulling off plug wires one by one with the engine running until you find one that doesn't drop the RPMs when you pull the wire off. then youve found your dead cylinder.

Ok everyone....I just went out and put in my 450s once again and did the screwdriver trick. Turns out one of my injectors is not clicking. So, I am hoping that is the only problem. I suggest you all try it too and let me know what you think. Maybe I'm totally wrong. Thanks
andif your car is idleing bad with the 450s try to raise the 1k setting to about -18% and 2k setting to about -21% thats what i did and it runs much smoother....... and you wont boost that low so it wont throw a cel.
good luck wiht that one injector!!!
ohh yah one of my injectors is cracked on the tip... i believe its called the plunger housing, will that cause a leak??? thanks!
