Squeaking noise when A/C turned on - compressor bad???
ok first off i have new drive belts.
ok i turn my ac on and the blower on, right about the time its starts to blow cold air out of the vents (about 20 seconds) the belt starts SCREAMING loudest think iv ever herd also the idle speed flucuates.
does this mean my ac compressor is locking up internally or something?

That's not what I'm saying. If you know that after you hit the AC the noise starts then get your head under the hood while the car is running and pinpoint where the noise is coming from. Chances are a bearing is on it's way out. You have to figure out if it's the compressor or the tensioner pulley or if a belt just needs replacing.
Don't rule out an overcharge. A compressor will struggle to compress a liquid. Find out the problem soon though before the compressor possibly disintegrates and contaminates the entire system, resulting in a much more difficult and costly repair. I'd refrain from using it until the problem is identified.
So was the problem there before the new belts? If not it is most likely a mis-adjusted A/C belt. If it was htere before the new belts you need to look at the idler before changing a compressor.

ummmm if it only squeals the belt when the ac is on the pullys have nothing to do with it... they spin all the time weather the ac is on or not cause the belt is hooked to the crank
so if it was a pully locking up it would do it all the time wouldnt it???
i think your compressor is toast if it was just a loose belt it would some times do it when it rains and it would do it the instant the ac was turned on not a little wile later.

The system is overcharged/overpressurizing or the clutch or an internal compressor bearing is shot.
Check for proper operation of condenser fan. A fan that doesn't work or works not fast enough would make the symptoms you mentioned. If the fan works well, check for belt tension.
