Small spline B16 YS1?
Well I just got a YS1 through a friend for cheap because it won't go into gear. He swears up and down that it's a EF B16 tranny.
I don't know much about transmissions, but I know that the 92-93 USDM GSR YS1 transmissions can use hydro b-series internals, but I have the short stick here.
I have the original A1 tranny from my 90 Integra, small spline. So I remember reading on another thread a while ago that as long as it's an EF b16 small spline tranny, and a small spline LS tranny, you can swap internals. Is this true? Because the tranny I got from him won't go into gear anymore. Could be something minor, maybe not. So if it's gears are fine, can't I just swap them into my LS case and run my LS 5th and FD?

Edit: Well upon further inspection, it has a discolored tag which I first assumed to be the 90-91 gold tag, but it's a White with a barcode and YS1, meaning what. 92-93 GSR?
Just took off the bell housing. 64 teeth on diff ring, so since GSR's are 66 teeth, this is an LS YS1.
EDIT: Well I read a post where Gearspeed-Performance is giving some technical information and I guess as long as it's a YS1 cable case, it doesn't matter if it's an LS or GSR, hydro internals still fit.
Guess I'm out to find a S80 with a cracked housing or something, lol.

Well I just got a hold of a GSR Y80 so now I have my Hydro non-LS tranny, so that's good, but I'm left scratching my head hear.
I know hydro guts go into YS1 cases, but my concern is the axles. I only have a 90-93 Cable intermediate shaft and cable axles. If I use the GSR diff which I will because of the FD, will it only accept Hydro axles and IM shaft, or will I have to use my LS differential and swap rings?

The axles are the same where they go into the diff. The only thing that's different that way is the driver's side axle seal has to match the intermediate shaft that's being used. The passenger's side axle is actually exactly the same from '90 - '01.
Do you mean how the drivers side axle end is a female end on a hydro and male on cable? Or do you mean the seal where the intermediate shaft goes into the transmission? If that's the case, I'm using the YS1 housing anyway, which is cable and meant for the shaft I'm using. So then all I need to do is swap the Y80 GSR differential bearings with new ones for the YS1 housing, and I'm good to go?

Type R enclosed bearings IIRC.
Ah, ok gotcha. Someone on another site said the same thing. But since you cleared up the spline into the diff issue, it's fine since I'll just swap straight in the GSR diff and use the YS1 bearings.
It's also nice to see how much stronger the shift forks look. Only thing is I need a new clutch, lol.
One last question though if I may. My 90 LS gears are on the out, 2/3rd grind and hard reverse. Now the LS gearing for 90-93 are the same, but the spline size is different. All the gears and syncro's in the YS1 LS look fantastic. Is it possible to swap the gears (not spline) onto the 90 spline and make a good transmission out of it?

EDIT: Ok, did some reasearch why they don't swap over. So 98+ GSR/ITR Diff bearings.

Those, correct? And one for the top and bottom, unless the bottom bearing is also different.
