Default Questions

Hey Guys Im new to Hondas and Bought a 90 Civic with a B motor swap. It is loud and the guy said it was a straight pipe for racing, and I want to put a quieter exhaust as I am going to drive it 40 miles one way every day for work.
Can someone point me to a picture of a full exhaust system, so I know what pieces I need to buy. I found a few cat back setups on ebay cheap but am not sure the sound would be less than what is on it now.

Second question. it has 15 inch rims and 50 profiles tires and when I am doing 60 the RPM's seem high, I was wondering if this was common with B swaps? It has the stock Transmission.

Any help would be appreciated. I am new to this all and do not even know the lingo yet... Sorry Im a noob... lol
Chris

Depends on what b series transmission it is. gearing verys from as ls(b18aorb) being the longest, gsr, type r and b16 being the shortest. Have to look up how to tell which trans you have.

Best catback for the price, hands down. I love mine. It's more of a 'sport' volume level. Very nice, and very deep at lower rpms. No interior drone.

Ok so Im going to ask a dumb question but I have to because this car is straight piped. The Cat connects to the header, correct, then the cat back is basically the rest of the exhaust?

Exhaust port -> Header -> Cat -> Catback

Is the cat still on the car? What kind of header? Stock? Ebay stainless? Name brand aftermarket?

No Cat at all, Straight pipe from the Header to the tip. Im not sure what Brand the Headers are, they are wrapped in Heat tape. I just got this as a daily driver, the price was good and the car looks real nice on the outside. I drive 50 miles one way to work and Gas in my silverado was killing me. I need to get it through Inspection and Straight pipe isnt going to do it. I was looking on Ebay and found an Cheap cat back exhaust and it does not have a full 4 inch funnel tip to amplify the sound, so I may get that.

All I would have to do is get a high flow cat for 30 bucks from the same guy and it should quiet it down a lot compared to what it is now.
The only thing aI need to do other than that is raise the suspension so that everything is at least 3 inches above the ground. I will do the tires and wheels after I get it through inspection to fix the whole rpm thing. I am guessing my my math, that a bigger wheel/tire combo will mean less turns of the transmission to the turn of the tire, which should bring my RPM down a bit. And since it has a B swap already, the car is not going to be underpowered.
Am I thinking correct?

Ok got the exhaust, and the racing high flow cat and put it all in.. Sounds good except when I let off the gas, it pops and sounds funny (it popped with the straight pipe too)
What is causing the popping or gargling and is there a way to get rid of it?

What ECU is it?

It is most likely a bad O2 sensor, or a complete lack of one (or both, in the case of an OBD0 EDU)

Where would they Be, I only saw one thing on the Header that could be an O2 Sensor. I did not see anything else

Yes it should be on the header.

If it is obd1, there should be one O2 sensor somewhere near the end of the header, with a 4 wire plug.

If it is obd0, there should be TWO O2 sensors, both are single wire.
