Engine Block&Transmission restoration
Hi so I am going to be restoring my engine and transmission. I believe I got the right products to do the clean up, but I am not sure about how to get that nice aluminum shine back again. I saw one guy do it with Car Brite aluminum spray, but I can't find that product anywhere. Any big automotive stores that sell it. I also saw Canadian tire had engine Enamel sprays in different colors. There was an aluminum one but it says you need engine primer if spraying on bare which which the block is bare metal right?

go to walmart and buy a black and decker crimped wire wheel attachment for a drill. they are like 4 bucks and come in different shapes and sizes. Go over everything with the wire wheel after you spray the degreaser, it will make cleaning alot quicker and loosen up stuff you cant get with your hands, also taking off any rust you may have. Finally, polish with some mothers aluminum polish or some sort of metal polish, or jewelers rouge. soak any rusted parts you may have in vinegar, i soaked all my brackets and bolts the polished them and painted with engine enamel
If you want to paint it, get a hold of VHT "Cast Aluminium" paint. If you mask off bolt heads plus anything that shouldn't be painted it looks really good and people often don't realize it's paint. Example:
