Icon2 Engine Swap

Hey guys, need opinions on what engine I should swap in when I get a 99/00 Ex or Si. It's definitely going to be a B-series due to my low budget, and probably won't be turbo'd due to it being my daily and me being still in high school. Sooo, what would you suggest for a built, N/A engine? And why? I'm looking at a complete GSR swap, simply because it's probably one of the more "simple" B swaps... or so it seems atleast. However, I have heard that the B20 block would be better because of the bigger displacement. Help! Layman terms appreciated!

b16 swap is what would come in your Civic SI, so if you find a SI you got a b series already with vtec and start some simple mods.

If you already got a ex then a b16 swap would be cheap and simple. Dep on your budget a ITR swap would be the best. Remember dep on were your at its ilegal to swap a motor older than the year and make of the car.

Why do want to "swap" a motor in?

Do you have a shell that needs a motor?

doesn't seem to be cause you stated "when i get a 99 ex or si".

If your a student than i don't recommend you swap a motor in if you dont have the mech skills and knowledge and or money to pay for it. Theres lots involved when swapping in a different motor.

Just keep the motor you get with the car and start on a simple mods.
Its very expensive to make a "fast N.A B series motor" its the expensive way to go slow unless its a full out spec race motor. bolt ons will only do so much. A mildy modified ITR swap would be a nice fun N.A motor though, i personally had a modded ITR and it was so fun to drive, had cai intake, header ect.

Mainly for power. Now that I think about it a little more, If I did get an Si, I would make it look good first, then add some bolt-ons. No turbo. However, if I do get an Ex, I would strongly consider going swap and turbo. I would do it for power, of course. Budget's low. Can't do ITR, but GSR would be possible. And no, I don't have a shell.

Remember to start with a good "base" on which to build. If you have the money, get an Si, they're really not to expensive anymore (like 6k) and you won't have to do a swap since a B16A2 will be staring you in the face when you pop the hood.

if you have a b16, get a b18b or B20 block and Ls/B20 vtec.

I think your best bet would be get a civic ex and swap in a b18a1 ls swap and turbo that. Will be much cheaper and still make good power.
