Default em2 turbo winter beater whatcha think?

So my brother and i have a 02 civic coupe ex for a winter car and we cannot take how slow it is. so we've decided we are going to ghetto budget boost her with me working for vw and a mod shop i have access to tons of used turbo parts therefore dirt cheap.

here's the list and what we figure the cost will be.

Turbo Manifold - HKS - $200.00
Turbo - K03s off a vw - free
Engine Management - Prefect Power Piggyback - already have - free
Intercooler - free
T25 to 3bolt adaptor flange for the k03s to work - $50.00
boost piping - free
air filter - exisiting one of vehicle - free
down pipe - modified oem vw downpipe - free
oil feed line, oil drain, coolant feed and coolant drain - $150.00
fuel injectors - srt4 stg 1 injectors - free

so we are hoping to boost the d17a2 for under $500.00

due to the fact of the small size of the turbo and the cfm's this turbo produces i'm estimating 10-12psi of boost.

im not worried about dyno time and tuning cost i have a dyno and tuning is done myself.

what do you guys figure it will put down?

180whp or so, at the high end on stock internals. To be honest, without changing the intake manifold... you're only looking at 6-8psi before it balloons and breaks (plastic intake manifold).

If you're looking for opinions, I think this one's rather dumb. Without building the internals up, a D17 is a ticking time bomb... under stock load conditions. They're extremely finicky in the best of scenarios.

not looking for huge power. I would be happy if it makes 160-180 whp way better then the current 90whp it puts down.

also if it blows up oh well, the car cost me $1000 its a winter beater.
a used engine from the wrecker yard is $400-$600

as for intake manifold i do have a blow z6 and y8 sitting around i can take the intake manifold off the y8.

I'd definitely recommend modifying the Y8 manifold and using it on your D17. That'll allow you to run slightly higher pressures without destroying the intake manifold. There's a few DIY's out there on what to do with a Y8 manifold to make it work.

you all dont laughf but i ran modified dirt track cars for years and we used stock honda rods shot peened and stressed reliefed and balaced and they were good for 600 hp without blowing up in our small block chevys. Alot of machine shop here in central illinios are doing this due to light weight strength and cost. they are workin awsome. i still got one motor left that has 45 night on constantly tuning 6500-9200 rpms making 613 hp at flywheel and 14.5 to 1 compresion. honda rods are proven to me.
