Default Turbo noob here.

OK my friend has a Talon Tsi. The engine in this car is built. It should handle some nice boost. But nothing outside of the engine is done except i/e. What are the first few steps of building a faster turbo motor?

I told him to first get a boost gauge, boost controller, new BOV. Is this a first good step? What should follow this? Downpipe? Upper intercooler pipe? Need some help here. Thanks.

P.S. A new turbo will be the last step as it is the most expensive. Thinking of maybe a frankenstein turbo.

What year is the DSM. If it is a second gen, get a first gen turbo (pretty cheap). It will be stronger at any boost level.

It is a 95 but we want to swap the turbo last. Build up to the larger turbo.
