I'm doing the same thing right now, Except with a '91 Si engine. You might be able to get a few hints from this:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=289399

http://www.importperformanceparts.net had the best prices by far on parts, although the general concensus on this board was to go with original Honda parts

i dont understand. what tips are you looking for? like how to rebuild and engine? thats not a tip. the tip would to be read a book. its quite easy. everything unbolts. on re assembly make sure everything is adjusted properly and torqued to spec

also if you don't have one all ready, get an engine stand. it will make your life much easier.

I got mine at the local auto parts store for $50

I think the info he wants are things like is there another engine he should try to get pistons from to up the compression of his. Or other tricks that people have done in the past to get some more horsepower without breaking the bank.

What parts are you planning on putting into this motor, stock or aftermarket? What is the intended outcome of this motor (Turbo, Nitrous, hi compression all motor, street and smog legal, etc.).

Answer those questions and the rest is easy. I've built a few D16a6 motors and the same principles will apply to your motor.

Good call. Find out what you want from the engine. If you're looking for mild to medium power use the oem honda stuff. Except for pistons, bore out the block 0.010 oversize and get pistons and rings to match. If you're planning on something super spicy, (200 + hp) your crank should be ok, but better save up for some forged pistons and rods.
