Icon6 Car jerking when holding accelerator steady!

Here is the problem...when my car is at standard operating temp and im driving the car jerks when i keep it at a steady speed. The rpms and speeed slowly goes down and then jerks and eventually stops. when it happens and i push in the clutch and stop at a stop light the rpms goes down to like 300 rpms..after it idles for about 30 seconds it jumps back up to 750-800 rpms. I start driving again and some times it stops and some times it does it again. Its a 96 acura integra ls..i have changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, distributer cap, and rotor button and had my ignition timed. Im lost please help!

Test the fuel pressure at the filter and at the rail, it will tell you where the problem is. 94

Not always. The O2 sensors lose a lot of performance after 50-60K miles and may not throw a code.

Tps. Make sure its calibrated .5v closed 4.5v wot. Get the voltage by putting a paper clip in back of the connector, into where the red wire is. Ground your multimeter to the battery.

Do this with the car off.

but did you test it while the problem was occurring? ie, under load?

if you did, and it looked good, i agree, check for codes.
if none present, use an HEI tester on the ignition system

if you suspect the o2 sensor to be at fault, try disconnecting it. see if the problem persists then. if it does, i'd definitely suspect an ignition fault

jerking with a steady speed generally points to an issue with the TPS. ignition problems usually show up during acceleration.

I've had my fair share of electrical gremlins when I owned a 78 280z. Hurray for stupid simple bosch L-jetronic fuel injection. No real computer. Just a bunch of resistors and switches. That's how I learned how to figure out an ignition issue from a tps issue hah

Sounds like surging, maybe a dirty fuel filter? If its after a car wash, or rain maybe, check sparkplugs, and sparkplug wires, and/or the distributor cap and rotor wear.
