Car battery opinion
I never had to buy one of these (lucky I guess) and I was wondering if somebody with experience or knowledge on several brand of car battery could point me in a good direction for a replacement of the OEM battery. Or do all car batteries creaated equal. I could always go to Sears and have a salesman BS about a Crasfman battery or something like that but I tought I might give you guys a try
Thanks
Thanks
nope.. not all car batteries are created equal.. i just happened to be reading Consumer Reports about this last night.. they did a test of most major battery manufacturers.. for our sized battery, Diehard(South) came out on top.. i can't remember who the other top ones were though..
you could always go with something from Sears, OEM, or aftermarket. All of them will work fine and its tough to say which would last longer or is strongest. If you go with an aftermarket one, you can get a lightweight one(if you care about that kinda thing) but you are gonna spend a bit more.
JP are you relocating the battery too or are you just going for weight savings at the stock position? I saw Erick's setup with a motorcycle battery but is that a 10 sec. run setup?
18 volt systems are available in non-alternator race engines. Some people have run a 12 volt system with a 6 volt motorcycle battery switching system to allow them the option to crank up the voltage when needed.
Has anyone tried this in a Honda system and is it detrimental to exceed 12 volts even whilst running an alternator?

Basically my stock OEM battery is getting weak, if I let the car sit for more then two days, it just don't have enought juice to crank the engine so I am looking to see if there is anything out there that will outperform or have any advantage over an OEM battery, weight beein one of those things. I don't think I will go into relocating the battery.
Anybody knows a brand name producing a light weight battery for the Integra model?

the usual source voltage is 12 volts. That's the voltage that drives most of your systems...when you hook up a gauge for instance, they ask you for a 12 volt source connection...it's the standardized voltage. I want to know if you switch to an 18 volt standardized system (18 volt battery source which are sold to race teams or use 2 batteries the usual 12 volt and a 6 volt motorcycle battery) whether it will fry everything if an alternator is used?

here's an example: Dynabatt 18 volt lightweight dry cell

I was looking at running the 11 lb Dynabatt VIP 18 volt with my 12:1 CR but wasn't sure if I was going to fry something in the process....they have their own module and coil...I just don't know if the Honda system can handle that...
