So i wrecked my 96 ex coupe 5 sp, and bought a 2000 shell to swap everything over. Threw in the motor with wire harness, and ecu into the 2000 and now the car wont start. Thought everything 96-00 was the same, apparently not. Im guessing i will need a obd2b ecu?? will there be anything else ill have to change? Not getting spark or fuel... motor ran fine in the 96 before being pulled

 

correct, every 99-00 civic EXCEPT the HX model are OBD2b. So you either need an OBD2b ecu and dizzy, or get jumper harnesses for them.

got it somewhat figured out. looks like ill need obd2b harness and ecu. Can someone confirm if ill need to change dizzy as well, or are they the same for the 96-00 y8

 

look at the plugs, does the plugs have the same number of wires and plugs into each other? if not, than you need an obd2b dizzy or a jumper harness.

 

You'll have to use the 96 cabin harness with the 96 ECU as well or use the 00 cabin harness, 99-00 engine harness and 99-00 P2P ECU because of this:
