Icon2 typeR head gasket thickness for boost

im in the process of rebuilding a Type R to boost it and i had a question regarding the head gasket recommendations,,,i was thinkin of running a cometic .030 head gasket but idk if its too thick or possibly too thin.

the build consist of:
stock bore full itr bottom end
type r cp forged pistons
golden eagle rods
block gaurd
ctr head
blox intake
obx tb
xs power 50 trim
log manifold
2 1/2 downpipe
open dumptube
tial waste gate
2 1/2 intecooler piping

goal is to making over 300 whp

Go with an OEM headgasket...... cometic has batch problems all the time, avoid them.... go with OEM/Golden Eagle

this

get a precision 5431e cea with a .63 exhaust if you need a 5 bolt 50 trim on a budget, something like $650. if you can spend more a garett GT3071 or 3076 would be ideal

^^^ agree with the turbo upgrade, you'll run into issues building boost, and burning oil... sooner or later you will run into issues with it.

i had the cometic headgasket setup on stock internals that lowered compression down to 9.5:1 and made 307 whp @ 7 psi..

i wouldnt go past 10:1 on the compression theres been alot of testing and i took apart my motor to change my pistons keep it at 10 or higher mine has 10.5:1 in it now it helps with torque

so you don't know what size turbo you had? there are a variety of setups you can fit in that case

I have luckily never had any issues with Cometic. I'm running a .040" cometic due to the block having been decked and the head also resurfaced. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably be running an OEM gasket (.030")

i want to say it was a .63 on the cold side..

if youre not running stock internals youll be better off running lower psi with a stock headgasket..

that still has nothing to do with the actual turbo, just the size of the exhaust case. you can stick 50, 57, 60 trim and a host of others in that same size of casing. all have completely different boost maps

so you already know that youre asking a question that noone can answer right?

because they have to know exactly what you want out of the car to know what exactly recommend..

ive already answered your question and you feel it wasnt good enough of an answer.
