ok i had made a mistake and bought the Universal apexi ws2 for my hatch a few years ago,i love the exhaust but the long tip is bothering me now since the sway bar is stopping me from moving it back more.im trying to find the axle back for the hatch but thats a mission and i dont wanna spend the 600+ to get a full system since i already have the 2 1/2 catback....my question is.CAN I CUT THE TIP OFF WHERE ITS FACTORY WELDED TO THE CAN AND WELD A SHORTER TIP ONTO IT,AND IF SO WILL IT AFFECT THE SOUND? My hatchback looks the same! The guy at the muffler shop warned me it wouldn't fit right, but I wanted to get it done. I just ended up getting used to it, so I don't have any advice to offer... Hasn't been a problem, except I have banged my shin on it before. I think it's too low for other cars to hit it.

 

yea plenty of people have told me about it and banged they shin on it lol.i cant stand it anymore man,its one flaw my car have that i hate.i just found this image on a audi site and i think ill just cut piece of the tip off,if i can find a place or tool to get a clean cut like this image..

Any reputable muffler shop should be able to help you.

 

Cut the tip off so it is flushed with the bumper.

If you remove the tip entirely, it will sound different

Just so you know the tips on the ws2 are not designed the same as those audi tips shown above. Ws2 tips are dual layered meaning when you cut the tip say in half, there will be an inner and outer pipe. They are not a solid piece of metal. Dont make the mistake I did. I ended up having to cut the rest of the tip off and toss it. Wish I would have known cause I would have sold the ws2 tip.

But obviously on the ws2 the outter portion will be much closer together with the inner pipe than in this pic.

changed the tip^^ now im selling the exhaust since i found the axle back...

 

Somebody finally rear-ended my protruding muffler. It was undamaged, though. I used to bang my shin on it all the time, but now I know to avoid it.
