ok so i was driving the other night and out of nowhere my radio shut then my lights went out, then my tach and speedo went out. i have tried replacing the alternator and nothing changed so i had my other alternator and battery tested and they both passed. so now i am confused could i have broke a wire or something? idk im lost.

 

Check your fuses? I'd probably do that first.....Then check all your grounds in the engine bay and make sure your battery terminals are clean.

 

i cleaned all my grounds when i replaced my starter like 2 weeks ago so i doubt that is it, and my fuses are all good. could my main relay be causing issues with this? that and the wires running from the alternator are the only other things left that i can think of.

 

Maybe you forgot to reconnect one of your grounds or it wiggled loose. Doesn't hurt to recheck them

 

if its in on position(not turned over) no radio, no tach, no lights and doesn't turn over its the ignition switch,
check your grounds and wires to starter and alternator from battery,
if all is good replace ignition switch and get back to us. hoped that helped

What car? If it's a '96 - to mid '99 or so Civic the engine harness probably rubbed through on the intake manifold stiffener bracket. (2000 models aren't supposed to be affected)

 

its already fixed. i ran a new wire from the alt to fuse box, but thanks for the suggestions.

 

It is not unheard of to have a relay get fried. Common 'Duh problem.
