Default What could cause a distributor to go bad?

i own a 96 honda accord lx 2.2 coupe and I bought a distributor a couple weeks ago after my old distributor went.replaced it,p1381 code went away after about a week or 2 and now its pulling up a code p1381 again. Why is it doing that?
ps. i bought a new one.the weird thing is,it seems to be running fine.but it still wants to cut out every once in a while.

On your car the cyp sensor is down at the oil pump. Check the connector to see if somehow it's either disconnected or the wire is open.

You should check the continuity of the two wires for the CYP sensor located between the distributor and the ECU. Also test the resistance of the CYP sensor itself. Even those reman distributors have been known to fail right out of the box.

Do you have a shop manual for your car? if not I suggest that you find one. There is an CD Accord (94-95) PDF manual that can be found online. The troubleshooting procedures for the CYP are the same for your 96. These manuals have the troubleshooting procedures for all the Diagnostic Trouble Code issues.
