Icon2 1998 civic belt change

Hi there

My civic lately has been making noises at idle. It seems to be coming from this belt
see the picture below. From what I have been reading it is the serpentine belt? Does anyone have a how to on how to replace this belt and if anyone has a part number/ name for this specific belt it would be great!

Car is a 1998 Civic hatchback CX from Canada. Its the D16y7 engine. The belt is to the left of the orange oil dipstick when looking at the engine straight on

any how to's or tutorials on how to replace this belt and a part number?

i have attached a picture, circled in red is the belt

For parts: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ Or go to a local parts store and have them get you one.

As far as tutorials, you could go to your local library and rent the Chilten or Haynes manual. If you plan on doing a lot of repair I recommend buying the Haynes manual.

Also, you could probably just loosen the belt tensioner. I'm pretty sure that's your AC compressor belt. The tensioner is the pulley on the right of the image you posted.

Yes, that is your A/C belt. What the picture above doesn't show is that belt goes around the motor mount can't be removed with the left lower mount in place. Further the mount will likely be bad.

Thats the ac belt. Does it make a squealing noise or a grinding noise? That belt has a idler pulley and when the pulley starts to go they make a grinding noise.

He's right. That mount went bad on both my civics.

Ya, I had to replace my idler pulley as it was causing the squeal from the bearing going bad.

In the rear, when do you hear the clicking? Is it cyclical or only when going over bumps?

For the noise that occurs during right hand turns, it could be a bad axle CV joint. Check to see if any of the rubber boots on your axles are torn.

It sounds like you need to get under your car and check all the bushing. It's an old car and even if it has low mileage, which I'm guessing it doesn't, the bushing will degrade with age.

It looks like it'll be easy to change the pulley. It looks like one, maybe two bolts. All you'll need is a ratchet set and maybe some PB Blaster. Just pay attention to how much slack you'll need to have. You don't want to over tighten the belt after putting the pulley on and you don't want to under tighten it because it'll keep squeaking.

I think its a 14mm nut on the pulley and a 10mm bolt to bring the pulley up or down for tension if its the same as mine.
