fully built lsv
whats up honda-tech.. well I'm building a lsv eninge. my goal is to make 220++. i have 12-1 cp pistons with eagle h beam rods on the stock ls crank( which has been polished and balanced. i also have type r water pump and spoon b series oil pump with acl race bearings. for the head i have a civic type r head (b16) but not one hundred percent sure if a itr head with give me better chances of reaching my goal. i also plan on buying aem ems 2 and will have chris miller tuned the car
my question is what head should i use, what valve train and cams will get me to my goal and what head gasket would work for the setup????????

if you already have a vtec head, it makes no difference which one it is, use it, you will need to port and build it anyway.
Port and polish
Springs/retainers
oversized valves
big *** cams
adj. cam gears
port matched big *** intake mani.
big TB
Nice header
Good tune
There you have it.

If your trying to hit 220 hp on a lsv then you will definitaly need your cylinder head ported and add valvetrain, a decent cam ,and a good intake manifold. What bore are you at? You don't need to go to extreme to hit your target number. Also before you get your ems consult your tuner for his preference since he will be the one tuning with it . Itbs are not needed. I would use that money to sleeve the block and go atleast 83mm bore but 84mm would be better. Also look into your fuel delivery. Making 220 is easy but doing it on a consistant safe engine that's what seperates builders
well the current bore is 81mm and i got high compression pistions from CP 12:1 to be exact and i planed on having chris miller do it cause he isnt far from me and he is the best in my eyes and for fuel i was looking at 550 injetors and cams i was looking at skunk2 but i cant decided wether to go with pro series or runner cause i want the car as a daily aswell
On 81mm your build just got a little more difficult. With that bore and compression I honestly don't see more than 200 hp on a dynojet and that's. Actually kinda high only because you got a good tuner. I would look into boring out the block . Also the fuel you use will dictate final numbers and reliability
Yeah that's why I stated on a dyno jet. On average lsv 82mm bore with type r pistons stock stroke with a really good head package max out slightly under 210whpand thats with a good safe tune however orr fuel out here is garbage so with that in mind you may get to your goal.

81mm with all the correct supporting mods you might be able to yield 220 whp. Main question is how much you are willing to spend on your head? Your biggest HP gains will come from head porting.
We made 235hp on a simple backup motor with less comp. and a stock head with Dereks DDTech street cam with a full exhaust, give Derek a holla he'll steer you in the rite path
Oh btw, nice photo in the mag winning all those IFOs and stuff
i ran 3" tubing to a Apexi N1 but any decent 3" header back would be cool. BTW that power was made with a 87mm crank that 89mm your running will make more power
