So i have a 1994 eg coupe with a stock z6 and 220xxx miles, and i didnt drive it for about 3 months because i need new tires and i needed to replace the distributor o ring. Well i replaced the o ring and got new tires and i started it up and it hesitated to start up, like it was bogging and the motor was just shaking. It took like 3 cranks to turn it on. So I decided to let it warm up and drive it around the block, and when i was doing i was in 3rd gear going about 30 mph when there was like a loss of power. And I pulled up to a stop sign and it didnt want to go any more, i had it in first and it would barely move and then it turned off. I turned it back on and it drove fine. What do you think it can be? Tune up maybe.

 

well did you mark the distributor when you took it apart? sounds like your gonna need to reset the ignition timing with a timing light.

 

Yes I did mark it, and it lined up exactly where it was marked. How do I reset the ignition timing?

 

Do the tune up you mentioned, replace the fuel filter, and then check the ignition with a timing gun (see FAQs sticky for diagram).
