fuel fuse location 92 accord?
I was wanting to pull the fuse for the fuel pump or fuel injectors while I do a spark test on my 92 Accord. So that while I'm cranking and checking for spark the cylinders don't get flooded with gas. But I can't seem to locate a specific fuse that does that. The fuse box in the engine bay has fuses none of which are identified on the cover as having anything to do with fuel pump or fuel injectors, but there is a 50A fuse identified as IG in there. Not sure what that might mean, perhaps ignition but don't know. I know the main relay under the dash also is the fuel pump relay and I guess I could disconnect that, but it's way up in there and difficult to access to unplug/re-plug. Anybody know specifically where/which fuse to pull to prevent fuel flow in this vehicle?
There is no fuse for the fuel injectors, just a "main relay". It's a brown connector inside the drivers side under the dash, held on by a 6 or 8mm bolt. It will have about 8 terminals. Just unplug it.
Ok well I was planning on checking each of the four spark plugs for spark by removing each spark plug (separately, one at a time) and then connecting each plug back into its wire and then holding grounding the plug on the engine block and watching/observing for spark as the engine is cranked. Should I even worry much about flooding the cylinders with gas if I don't bother disconnecting the power to the fuel pump? Or would it really be a better idea to go ahead and disconnect the power to the fuel pump in advance of performing the spark test as described? Reason I ask is because it's really kinda of a pain in a** to reach way up there in that inconvenient location under the dash to unplug the main relay. But I'll do that if its strongly advised to do so. Thanks for any further comment(s).
Great. Thanks Kway for that suggestion. The plug for the injector resistor box is right there in plain sight and easily accessible right there under the hood. It'll be a cinch to just unplug that during my spark testing.
