Default Stuttering issue

Hey guys, I was driving to work this morning, and my car started stuttering, HARD. It got to the point where the car barely wanted to move, and the check engine light started flashing. Besides basic tuneup stuff like plugs, wires, cap and rotor, any suggestions on where to start looking for an issue?

Thanks

John

Retrieve the check engine code(s) would be the best place to start.

Check engine light is not staying on. i dont think there will be codes to retrieve. also the car is sitting at my work and i dont think i can get it to a parts store. i started the car over my lunch period, and it ran great until it warmed up. then it started stuttering real bad again. thats leading me to believe its internal to the disty.

Well after work I finally got to check it out, turns out the rotor inside the disty cap was completely loose! No bolt to be found anywhere that should have been holding it in. New cap and rotor and now all is well.

there should be a lil scerw in there you should check your pickups because there magnetic and if you hit a good bump that thing will bounce around in there

Sorry I should have been more clear. There wasnt a bolt in there, I replaced the cap and rotor AND the screw, so it's all good now.

I did just take it for a test drive, and it still stutters if I take it up in the rpms, so I have more investigating to do
