95 Civic EX - Another jumping idle
Hi guys, I have a 95 ex sedan d16z6 with 5 speed. I have a full after market exhast ( ceramic header n stainless from downpipe back ), as well as a cold air intake, with a tuned ecu ( yes the engine is basically stock but my friends n I were bored a few months ago). I am having a jumpy idle at closed and open loops. I'm about ready to drop a b16a2 into the car with a turbo however I want to use this engine as a spare in case my foot gets the better of me at some point. Before the problem started my engine idles at about 750 rpm. Now it is jumping from 1k up 2 2k in both closed and open loop. I have reajusted the fast idle unit, and cleaned the ivac unit. I have also ( just in case ) replaced the throttle body gasket as well as clean the throttle body itself. I have a check engine light that comes on occassionally since this problem has started, but it is always while I am driving, and my the time I get to my place to check it it turns off the second I even this about turning the car off. Anybody have any suggestions? I'm about ready to just buy a new ivac unit but its 170 so rather not spend money if its not what's broke. Any questions plz let me know. I'm mainly a chevy guy but I know my hondas almost as well. I have just about everything that I can think of writen down so if any information that u can think of that might asssist plz let me know n ill let u know. Thank!
A stock D16Z6 wouldn't need a tuned ECU.
Did you clean the FITV before adjusting it?
When the idle problem is happening, remove the air intake and, one at a time, use your finger to cover the hole inside the TB leading to the IACV or FITV. Does covering one of these holes drop the idle speed and stop the hunting?

The only thing that he did was lower my vtec down 2 4.5k. That's if memory serves. I think ima end up getting the ivac n the fast sensors. If the ending runs perfect its great if not o well. Just like the insurance of having a motor laying around 4 myself/friends. I have been suspisous that its a bad ecu tho. But the tune was about a year ago n it has only been doing this 4 about 2 weeks now.
