Some sort of relay or switch on key cylinder of ignition switch??
Hey guys I lost my keys for my civic and went to check the ignition cylinder to see if it was the orignal but it was changed.
My problem is there are two things hanging there on my steering column. One with a white plug to a shine thingy and the other is a black one with a green plug. I saw on ebay that they are on the cylinder but my cylinder has no spot for them to screw to.
3 questions:
1. What are they responsible for and do they have to be screwed down on the cylinder?
2: Should I buy a new ignition switch all together?
3: Can I take the harness off the cylinder and get a key cut since I can't remove the tumbler?

What is that black box with the green connector and the gold one above it?What purpose do they serve?
My ignition has no where to put them and they are just left hanging.

They are just hanging in my steering column. I have no clue what they are, what they do (how important they are) and the cylinder in my car has no where to mount them like this ebay one.
Help please it's bugging the crap outta me for months now trying to figure out what they are.

vitamin. No it's not. The cylinder itself looks like its not from the car but the switch harness is.
I saw glass bit in the car when i bought it in 2007. i'm thinking it was broken into and they messed u the iggy and the owner just changed the whole cylinder and use back the original harness.

Completely off topic, but do you just have to unplug it to make the annoying chiming go away, or is there anything else you have to do with the wires?
Just unplug it or depin one of the wires. For some reason I don't recall mine having a plug so I depined one wire on mine at the large plug for the ignition switch. Something about the pic the OP posted looks wrong to me but I haven't looked at a real switch in a long time.
The pic is not wrong. I have a 98 ex auto transmission. Also even though that switch is off I still have the 4 fast beeping sound with key inserted and door open.
Here's a pic of my ignition.
