Ok I'm new at this. This will be my first build. I have always had a passion for tuners but never had the funds to get off the ground. I've got a great job now and I'm finally ready to make something happen. I bought a 2000 civic ex 5-speed last year and my wife blew the engine.

I finally got an engine to put in it. Like I said I'm new to this so I'm going to start off slow to build my knowlage before I get too deep. I bought a used D16Y8 100k miles. I had originally bought the Y7 because I didn't know that my engine was VTEC. Luckily I was able to return it. I wanted to go B series but once I started researching a bit I realized that I would be in over my head. I'm an electrical engineer so I'm good with the wiring and electronics but I am limited on my mechanical abilities so I have a mechanic installing the new Y8 this monday. The next thing I want to do is quickly slap on a turbo. I plan on slowly rebuilding the old Y8 for the future as my knowlage expands.


My questions at this point are.. what kind of turbo do you guys suggest? Will I have to upgrade my clutch? VTEC controller worth the $? Should I do exhaust before turbo?
