94 civic tranny problems - car doesn't move in gear
So i just bought a 94 civic ex 2 door. Stock with a d16z6 it was driving fine then all of sudden i put it in gear (any gear) and it wouldnt go unless i went all the way to 7000 rpm and it moved very slowly it wasnt making any wierd noises or nothing it just wouldnt go and also wen it was in a complete stop and in gear i would take the clutch out and it wouldnt turnoff or even jerk a little. Ive been told its an unsprung clutch or broken axel but really cant find similarities i would really appreciate the help guys

Could be depending on how much you do, or don't know. You have to remove the tranny, parts will run a few hundred, or less, depending on quality. Perhaps hook up with a buddy or club in the area that might be able to help you?

How far did you have to release the pedal to engage it before "all of a sudden" it wouldn't engage unless you gave it 7000rpm? Just curious. I have a '95 and a '97 that started spinning like that unless you gave it low rpm and slowly let off clutch and babied it until it got going. But I guess in your case the disc could have disintegrated.
After I did the clutch on the '95 with an Exedy it engages very soon when releasing the pedal, it works 100x better. Actually I still have to do the '97.
Anyway, it is a big job, but if you have help, and are mechanically inclined, you can do it. Check the tech FAQ for write-ups. One of the hardest parts is muscling off and on the tranny and keeping it level so you don't screw up the new disc. A good jack and extra hands are almost a must.
I got my kit with everything I needed, including the tool to align and a flywheel from a good dealer on ebay.
If you do I flywheel, getting it off and on requires a special tool or special jimmy rig. The flywheel holder from Honda is $$$ but worth it to me since I will be doing my '97 next.
daze..

me and a friend of mine did it in about 45 minutes as well. Dude next to us was changing his oil and we left before him. Of course we did the exact same thing the weekend before with a junkyard tranny that grenaded (bearings shot) 2 days after install. So it was fresh in our minds, and are both inclined
Am inclined enough to do it ive taken out a tranny out of a car in auto shop when i was in high school but i just dont have the tools to do it am gonna have to go on a shop on this one but i usually do the job myself and thanks for the help guys
