It should work just fine, only thing the jdm motor doesn't have is vtec pressure switch, there is a way around this.. Make sure your knock sensor and secondary butterflys are wired up.

It really depends on what engine harness and chassis you plan on using. It will not be plug and play no civic ever came with secondary butterflys, you can delete all of this with a chip or s300 and a aftermarket intake manifold. Do some research its been done.

I have a jdm b18c gsr and it came with a chipped p72ecu on a 94 civic si coupe and secondary butterflies opens on vtec and its obd1, the reason im looking for a stock ecu because i need for emission test and i can get a canadian version of obd1 stock p72 ecu and the part number is 37820-P72-C01, my existing ecu right now is plug and play
My old motor before the swap was D16Z6

Clip J1 on your chipped P72 and it turns into a stock P72

You can either remove the jumper in this location or cut the wire. The ecu goes back to the factory tune then. Reconnect it to go back to the tune on the chip.

I was refering to gsr motor really, but yeah I'm going to go ahead and say its safe to assume he is not using an MB6 engine and chassis harness lol

I just pick up a cdm obd1 p72 ecu (canadian version 37820-P72-C01)
it seems to work fine the vtec engages around 4400 rpm but the cel light comes on after 15 min and doesnt go away, but if i turn off the engine and start the car again the light is gone but will come back on after 15 min or something like that, i'm pretty sure i have a vtec pressure switch coz i know what it looks like even i have a jdm b18c gsr engine, my question is what else can cause this? because i dont want any cel light before i go for an emission test, i just disconnect the battery for now to reset it and try it again later. any suggestions guys?

If you want to run a stock unchipped ecu you have to install a knock sensor, there was a trick a while back about rigging up a piezo buzzer but its easier to install and wire up a knock sensor

Thanks i'll prolly get it chipped with stock base map and just disable knock sensor, cheaper that way too
