Icon2 94 EJ not starting. Main relay questions

So here in Texas, the weather fluctuates like a woman having cravings whilst pregnant.

My civic doesn't start in the mornings or when it's cold out. I checked fuses 31 and 24 with a test light to see if I get power through them(a diagnostic Ron has said elsewhere in a DIY). I resoldered the main relay. Still preforms same problem but it has a faster response to wanting to turn on(ie don't have to wait 10min anymore more like 3-6min). When I hold the main relay in my hand for a good minute I hear the other two clicks and my fuel pump prime, thus I can turn on my car.

So is there anything else I can check to see what is the problem or can I just bite the bullet and pay $60 for a new relay?

Btw, I jumped 1-7 and 5-7 on the relay connector and the pump runs fine.

Thanks for the help in advance!

IM having the same problem as well. I also switched a working main relay off of my 94 civic sedan and it still wouldn't start.
It would only want to start when it's warm outside.
Until this day I still can't figure out the problem.
Bump too the top!!!!

Resoldering normally eliminates the need to replace the main relay.

When the engine will not start, does the fuel pump fail to prime and the CEL remains on steady? If so, start by cleaning the G101 ground attached to the thermostat housing with steel wool and then reconnect and tighten.

If the problem persists, then try swapping in a known good ECU.

Yes the CEL remains constant. Indicating Code 0. But when I cleaned the thermostat ground it stopped. Yet car still doesn't prime when switched to the ON (II) position. Also, Code 0 comes and goes but either way, car doesn't prime when it's suppose too :\

So sometimes you turn the key from off to ON(II) and the pump fails to prime but the CEL turns on and then off after 2 seconds?

Negative. Cel remains constant, but when the pump finally does prime the cel shuts off(but this is after a prolonged period of waiting)

I'd recommend that you start shopping for a replacement ECU.

Will do. P06 here I come. Should be relatively cheap as they aren't a "performance" ecu.

When I get one, I'll post back the results to see if that is indeed the problem.
