EK or EG - What are pros and cons and things to look out for when buying?
Hi, im new to the forum and as of right now i do not own a Honda but will be getting rid of my 2004 Sentra SE-R SpecV, i love that SpecV but im just getting bored of it, and looking for something new. I got my eyes on either a EK or an EG and im leaning toward the EK but depending on the price ill get either one, so as a former Honda hater, hated Hondas mainly because of the EXTREMELY loud engines thats sound like a box full of bees(still hate that), and first time future honda owner, i just wanted to get some insight on the pros and cons and things to look out for when buying other than normal things with the EK & EG's.
To remain open, this thread must be steered in a technical direction. For example, you must state some technical goals, similar to those asked in post #3.
I'll add some of my experience here.
You're from the NE, so I'd say rust. Look at the rear wheel arches near where it meets the bumper for any signs of rust. Also, the basics for any used car (maintenance records) timing belt and water pump.
Also, look in the trunk, lift up the false floor. In and around the spare tire there is sometimes water in these cars as they age.

and also be able to get some good mileage out of it cause it would be my only car, at at least better mileage than my SpecV right now 22/29
Mostly going for looks and mild performance. My ultimate goal is a yellow/red EK/EG with a K20A2 swap in it all motor, some nice wheels a nice DEEP note exhaust and some suspension work, with a all black interior.

If this is just going to be a Daily Driver, mostly looking for looks out of it with minor performance mods i would go with the car you like the most. Look all 4 model basis. Ek coupe, ek hatchback, eg coupe, eg hatchback. Find out what you like the most then start you quest from there. Before you even buy the car make a FULL Dream Car build so when you get your car you are not blowing money on pointless unnecessary mods. Here's a thread that will help you with this https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/building-your-dream-car-101-a-3102979/
I would suggest before you even do ANYTHING to this car you add a full-secure alarm to it. How much you pay for it depends on how much you car is worth to you. If you don't care about the car then go but a 85$ viper 1-way alarm. If not and you WANT TO KEEP THIS CAR and not have it stolen and chop shopped i would suggest you go with a FULL Alarm system route.

Last but not least, after you have picked out your dream car build and did everything necessary to start off your Honda build and search for a Honda here is a write up that i made to help people coming into the Honda world pick out a good Honda.

Most questions are answered here, if you cannot find your answer here then come back and make another thread for it or if it refers to this add on to this one.
You want looks, and you plan on swapping a K in, so the only thing that matters is which chassis you want to stare at.
Problem solved, question answered. Can we get back to the actual tech now?

^ Exactly. If you have a problem finding a chassis i don't think you should even be thinking about swapping a k...
im set of the EG unless i cant find one in the condition and price that i want ill go for the EK but main choice is EG. and as for what id like to do to it is that canary yellow paint with black 98 integra typeR rims with yellow lugs with some black leather bucket seats and black leather rear seats with a RSX or TypeR steering wheel and to top it off a skunk2 MegaPower R exhaust system.

OP - This is a technical forum. Related to your goals, can you state some specific technical questions that you'd like answered?
