Eg or Ek?
I'm coming back into the honda world and am going to get a hatchback so not counting looks...
which one is better ... eg or ek?
yes I know it depends on many things but from your guys experiences which one handles better, seems to have less problems... and once again I know it depends on suspension, what motor, how well its taken care of, etc.
but I guess it seems to me that an eg would handle better because it seems not as tall as an ek... but I dont know so thats why I'm asking HT
thanks

look wise, eg is my favorite honda there is
i actually do not like ek's at all.
if u like them both then think about price. EGs are older so they theoreticaly should be cheaper. They also should need more service/maitance comparing a 92 to a 98 ya know? i LOVE my eg hatch just for some info

Which one would you rather walk out of your house and see in your driveway, and which interior would you rather sit in? IMO Thats what it comes down to, like what john666said.
IMO they're both awesome, and I'd drive either one. I've got an "ek" cause my dad happened to pass a dealership that had a mint one and i needed a new car. Its hard to find clean eg's where I'm from so we got my 98 hatch. One day i'd also like to have a nice eg along with the hatch i've got now.

Eg are more popular and they are also just a tad lighter. I personally own a eg and I like the looks of it better then the ek. Although there are some sick *** EK out there.

I personnally like the eg over the ek b/k the roofline comes back and goes straight down w/ the hatch rather than the odd slant the ek's hatch has. Plus eg's are cheaper, but yet older. So i would say its all up to you and what you like and where you want to go with it.

I have a EG...performance wise...I believe the EG is faster on the straights...but cornering .. i dunno? depends on suspension you have...but yea..both cars are awesome...

Re: Eg or Ek? (NINJA-EG)
i personally like the EK over EG and with me PS and A/C is a must and a necessity and it was really really hard for me to find an EG with those. But after choosing the EK i wouldn't trade it for an EG. And the EG's that i've driven seem really heavy through turns unlike my EK. What are you looking for other then performance potectial because either way whichever you get is a good platform.

Re: Eg or Ek? (AllAboutSleepers)
IMO I just love the EG's lines. The car looks fast sitting still. The car is super clean, and even when I see a beater EG on the road, I see the potential behind it. If neither body style jumps out at you, then look at the interior. If neither of those appeal to you, then go for price.
Just a quick Kelly Blue Book check, and a basic EK is around $6k. I bought my EG last year for just over $3,500. It was virgin, never been touched. (they are out there) My buddy marvelled at the fact that most of the bolts in the engine bay have never been removed. It was a couple hundred over KBB but for SoCal it wasn't too bad. I spent the difference on paint and body work from MOBworks. So for the price of a used EK, I have a freshly painted super clean EG.
Just remember that honda engines can last a very long time. And even though the EG might be 10+ years old, a well maintained engine can have almost 200k plus miles in it. Anyways, how long will the stock engine stay in the car?

Having owned EF, EG, and EK, Id have to go with EG as being my favorite bodystyle, besides its OBD1 right outta the box and its styling will never get old.

The rear-end of the EK is just nasty.
Go EG and you'll be happy.

Re: (sTEAMD_rICE)
With the eg you can also swap more parts from a teg then you can on an ek. Found this out the hard way when my GSR rear sway bar didnt fit my 97 ek

I love my EK mainly because of how it looks, and the interior...however I really like EG's too. I just couldn't bring myself to buy one. I wanted a "newer" hatch, but I hate the ep3's.
Realisticly, you can't go wrong with either. Both have many strong points.
