Default Help. I'm getting no spark

I got a 89 hatchback with a 91 integra ls swap. Computer, tranny, brakes, rear trailing arms from the integra into the civic. I bought the car dirt cheap with a blown head gasket. Before buying the car, the guy tried to get the car started. It tried to start but didnt run. The guy ended up telling me the fuel pump most have gone out. So, I got it towed to the house and it sat there for a few weeks.

I got a used fuel pump from another hatchback that was running that was in wreck and going to the scrap yard. The car only run if ez starter was spray into it. Then I left for a deployment. Many months later I came back, ready to attack the problem, but I had a new born and I was getting out, I didnt have enough time to get it running. More months later, I got a few hours to spare. I looked up alot of no start symponths some worked. I tested the main realy, it failed. Went to a junk yard and got 2 and tested them at home. They pass and 1 got installed. Now the car has devolped a new problem, it wont start from the key. I have to use a jumper wire from the postive terminal to the starter. The car dosent have a battery, I have hooked up to my diesel truck. The hazard lights turn on, thats my way of telling if the civic gets power. The car cranks, I see the cam gears and belt turn. I checked for spark, I have no spark. I took the dizzy cap off ( there is no oil leaking from the dizzy cap) inspected the cap and rotor for carbon, there wasn't much on it, but i cleaned it up. Well watching a youtube video of a guy trouble shooting a no start car, he opens the dizzy and puts a test light to a spring on the ignation coil and gets an arc. I went to test mine out, i have no spring. I went to 2 different parts store. Each store had a different type of ignation coil. When I do try to turn the car with the key, on the run postion, the lights on the dashboard turns on and the fan kicks on. I also hear the fuel pump priming. I turn the key to the On position and nothing happens, just the fan cuts off. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

holy hell what a mess..so if i followed correctly, your current problem is no spark??
im gonna go ahead and guess its the ignition switch...

check for 12v at the blk/ylw wire at the dizzy.if no 12v,youre looking at main relay, ignition switch,or rarely an ecu/wiring issue.

if you have 12v,youre looking at dizzy internals,or anything from the distributor to the plugs.

until you know where you problem lies, dont go messing with the dizzy internals or whatever youtube was teaching you..lol

good luck, let us know how it goes!

Sorry, but you're wrong there.the spring helps to "shoot" the spark(so to speak),but most distributors have a bar inside that pushes against the contact to receive spark.my brand new dizzy doesn't have a spring and runs just fine..

Hey guys. I got it running ( I used ez start, I'll put gas in the tank later). It was the clutch saftey switch. The car sat for almost 2 years cause of that. Tomorrow I'm taking the plugs out and clean and set them to specs. I used the started to jump the clutch saftey switch. Is there away to bypass it? Thanks for the all the help and input.

Good to know. I run an OEM coil and they all have springs.
