1991 ED7 Rear calipers / E-Brake uneven
Hi guys.
I have a question about the rear calipers. As the parking brake brakes unevenly.
I've got new calipers for the whole car.
It seems i have different type of calipers on the left and right (both rear). Left hand side has Nisin caliper while the other is a refurbished Girling caliper.
They are *almost* the same.
The question is, when I hook up the brake cable to the Nisin (left) caliper, I need to drag the cable and push the lever torwards each other so that I can put the pin in.
On the other side, the cable is right on so that the pin fits in.
So either one is too short or too long... Or different distance from the cables to the caliper's lever?
Looking at the hand brake cables in the center console the equalizer is at an angle. Kind of like in this image, but not quite that much.
So, while trying to adjust the parking brake (rear end up, one-click parking brake and adjust the nut until the wheels begin to drag), the left wheel drags quite a bit instantly and the right wheel is loose.
When i pull the parking brake as far as i can, I can see that the left cable travels much farther than the on one the right.
I've read this but I fail to see how this would work:
Caliper not self-
adjusting
And I've read somewhere about cables being stretched.!?
I can't see how I can fix this without having exactly the same type of calipers and maybe replacing the brake cables.
But that's damn expensive. So before I go out on a spree, do you have any idea?
