Default Exedy clutch kit

For some reason when my clutch disengages (I push the clutch pedal) I can hear just one click almost like a slap. After the click, with the clutch pedal held down, you can hear what reminds me of a grinding or cycling type noise. The clutch works just fine, there is no slipping. But the sounds are annoying and I believe I will need a new clutch soon. I've already replaced the clutch master and slave cylinder. Here are my questions:

Do these sound related to the clutch or flywheel?
What is your opinion on this Exedy clutch/flywheel kit?
For a daily driver is it best to go with a 12lb flywheel or this lighter 9lb flywheel?
Is it a decent price?

Thx doood. That kit comes with a "Release Bearing", aka throwout bearing?

No I have not even bought one yet. Just trying to make sure that whatever I get will get rid of the clutch noise and be the best for my application.

Ok. I know when my throw out bearing went, It will squeal when i press the pedal.(7 months ago)
As of right now, my car is making a clicking noises and some odd sounds when pressing the pedal just like you. For my problem I am assuming its my bolts that are loose b/c my troque wrench went out the day i was installing my clutch. I will be dropping the tranny on Friday. i can let you know then.
Besides that, the clutch kit seem to be a good kit. You can get it cheaper on ebay.

Exedy OEM or Stage 1 is your best bet. Stage 1 has a slightly heavier pressure plate for better grabbing power, but uses the OEM clutch disk. So you retain essentially all of the OEM drivability without the drawback of a "race" clutch. Stage 1 also has a better TOB, if you bang on your clutch a lot stage 1 sounds like a better alternative.

As for the flywheel, the 12 pound flywheel is a good medium between the OEM and the 9 pound. Having slightly more weight than the 9 pound should benefit you when you're crusing around town. Less focus on Rev matching, which means you can be a little sloppy without jerkyness.

I also like the stage 1 better than OEM replacement, even for daily driveability. The OEM is too soft IMO.

My preference is for the lightest flywheel possible. I have a 7 lb. and I wouldn't go heavier. I find it smoother than heavier, more sluggish flywheels. The wife feels the same.

Well I was able to get some very useful information out of this thread. I appreciate all of your comments and you have helped me to make a decision, thank you! Is the Exedy flywheel Ok or should I look towards a different brand? I've read good things about the Fidanza.

Exedy is a great company and I have had no problems with my Fidanza. You'd be safe either way. The hard part will be figuring out which weight you think you will prefer.

I had a Exedy stage 1/fidanza flywheel combo on my gsr. I really liked it, The flywheel is really light, So rev matching between shifts is important.
