Default I have a choice... LS or B16 Transmission???

Well i have a brand new Quaife for Ls/B16 and im about to buy a transmission. I have a choice between an Ls or B16, what would be the best one for my application? I should have around 400 whp and i will be using 15in. wheels and around 24in. tall slicks. My car would mostly be used for street racing and a little bit of track use. If anyone has experienced both, please give me an insight on this. I did a search and nothing really helped, so if anyone had personally experienced this, let me know. thanx.

B16...with a big turbo and long gearing you will fall out of your powerband between shifts. With the b16 the power is right there with every shift.

Not always. You cant fit a gsr diff into a b16 or Ls.

And we won't even go into issues with the Y1 tranny

Oh, and B16. I prefer to accelerate faster as opposed to boosting longer.

i accelerate fine, i can race a b16 trans and spank it due to when there banign through gears to get to third to actually spool longer i have only shifted twice. thus have more monentum.

they are with a different ring gear. The FD of the b16 and gsr are the same but the inner diamiter of the fd gear is different. Thjats why ls and b16's have a different part number for quaifes.

LS and B16 have the same part number. GSR and Type R have the same part number.

I think what he meant is that in certain setups, the B16 gears are so short that once you begin to hit the sweet spot in the power band, it's time to shift. With the longer LS gearing you stay in the powerband a little bit longer.
