whats up guys curious if anyone knows what tools needed to change passenger upper control arm on a 2001 SH.
the ball joint came out of the socket on my dads car, and im going to be driving 2 hours to go fix it in a parking lot. my shop is closed for the holidays so my tools are locked up!
I'm also curious if the have the studs that need to be changed from the old control arm to the new, where the bushings are in the pic, to where they bolt in the chassis.

14 mm ratcheting wrench for the arm to body bolts, 17 for the bj nut, and a hammer to separate the bj from the knuckle. Maybe a 10mm to undo an abs wire.
do the upper or lower ball joints need to be filled with any grease when bought new, or put them in like they are? seen install videos, but no mentions of putting grease in them?
just bought and installed my upper control arms yesterday along with the shock/strut combo, Base models are the same, but no bolts up top, just under the fender
Lowers are next, just want to know this first, sorry to add to the thread, but its related to it and helpful

thanks guys! changed plenty of them on civics and accords just wasn't sure if the prelude was any different. Crossing my fingers that vise grips will grab the ball joint tight enough to break the castle nut loose!
@ friutofthelude honda doesn't give you grease fittings. I have never seen a aftermarket OEM replacement that had one either. Some good camberkits/control arms will, and I would say that good aftermarket replacement lower ball joints will have them such as moog. U could use a grease needle to lube them, but that does poke a small hole in the boot. I usually only use that for diagnostic purposes.

thanks man, good luck with the fix, hopefully no roadblocks surface, also a ball joint separator works like a charm with a rubber hammer, but im not that experienced with the suspension parts but it worked wonders... (alot better than when i replaced my clutch a few months back and didnt have one)

I got it fixed. The tool list was pretty much the same, but the suspension is slightly different than the suspension showed in the video. It did not have the studs that need to be transfered. rather than bolting to the top of the strut tower the bolt into the sides of the strut tower, where it has threaded inserts, ( hope no one ever get one of those cross threaded lol). There were some clearance problems with the bolts wanting to contact the coil spring when removing them. I loosened the the 3 nuts holding the spring/shock and was able to get the little bit of clearance I needed to get them out.
If any one is curious Tool List. 3/8 ratchet, 3'' extension, 14 mm socket, 14 & 17 mm wrenches, hammer, and vise grips!
