Default Optimum Compression in D17?

So I recently took my 2005 Civic LX into Honda to get it inspected and cylinder #4 was at 130psi. My question is what is a good compression number of a healthy motor? And should I be concerned with 130psi? Car seems to run and drive fine. Has 130k mostly highway miles.

Thanks

It depends on what the other cylinders are reading. If they're reading about the same then it's normal. Normal meaning you'll lose compression over time due to wear.

Do you hear the engine clattering? When was the last time you had the valves adjusted? If you haven't had the valves adjusted then you're way overdue. Honda recommends adjustment every 100K miles but, a lot of people have found it usually needs it every 60K miles or so. Adjusting the valves may solve your problems.

Just rent a compression tester from your local auto parts store and do the test yourself, here is a link on how. Once you have the results of a dry test, do a wet test which will tell you how much blow-by you are getting on each cylinder (difference between them). If you want to take it a step further after that, a leak down test should help narrow down where you are losing pressure.
