Hey guys, i was out with my 2 kids in the middle of nowhere and my car shut off, it wouldnt start until about 30mins later when the engine cooled down and i tried it again started right up??,

i had issues before with the car shutting off but it would always crank right back up no problem!

i have done a new dizzy, Alt, wires, plugs,Crank sensor, EGR,fuel pressure regulator, and PCV,also the dealer did the ignition Recall , so far..

i read while i was broke down on my phone in the boonies that this guy had the same problem when his car would run fine "shut off/stall' 30-45mins later when the engine cooled it would crank,

ANY HELP Please!! im a dad w/2 kids and this is my only transportation to take my son to school and my daughter to daycare and i have to have it running good until i can afford a newer low mileage car THANKS everyone

 

Read that it could be a Failing fuel pump as well.. (works fine then when it heats up it can shut off, and work again when it has cooled?) have you guys heard of this? also read it could be an assortment of things, internal coil, FPS, etc... makes me wanna sell the damn thing.. tired of fixing things on it, just want it reliable car for my kids to ride in .. thats all, nothing like crossing the Bay bridges and the car shuts off at 60mph and i gotta sit on the shoulder.. i see alot of 6th gens have this issue.. no one can figure out why anywhere? any help greatly appreciated

 

So, i guess ill start by Checking the Main relay, then the fuel pump.......

BTW its 45 degrees outside and it was running ok till the thermometer dropped under 55
so im leaning more torwards the Faulty P.O.S relay EVERYONE has problems with.. i will post my results
as soon as i swap it or solder it.. i dunno what i may do.. take care people Happy holidays

 

Hey I'm sorry I cannot say anything either coz I am not so sure. Buuuut try googling some things like "what could cause a car to stall while driving." Maybe other peeps had the same issue before too.

 

Normally if the car has to cool down to start it's the main relay. Almost always, if the fuel pump is the problem it will just die and you won't be able to start until you change it out.

 

maybe the radiator cap is busted? wouldnt hurt to pop it off and look at it

 

hey im back and ALL issues are fixed , it was the main relay after all , i did a little soldering on 1 cracked point on the circuitboard and it works great, could have bought one for $50 but repaired it , hope this can help others

This should fix alot of issues, i Had a Voltage issue before, like Surging Power car would shut off Driving Re start rolling sometimes, sometimes i would have to wait 10mins last night 45mins ,In the beginning i thought it may have been the Recall on the Ignition they fixed it, still did it, i replaced almost EVERYTHING under the hood, i did all the work so i just had to buy parts wich isnt bad, but yeah LOTS of things this little relay can do to your car....i thought my Fuel pump went last night and it was this damn relay. Doesnt hurt to Pull it out from under the dash (Drivers side) and check it for corrosion or cracks because these are known to fail,especially in Hot or Cold Temps But the good thing is you can fix it Cheap or buy a New one for about $50, Happy holidays everyone
