Okay so I've finished with my B20/Vtec today and started her up just fine. However during acceleration only the motor knocks/pings like marbles going down a drain. Cruising or revving the motor under no load it sounds just fine. It's late and I work all week so I won't have time to check things out, so I'm wondering if anyone can give me a slight hint of what might cause this issue? I've done some researching and it's possible that I could have bad gas, bad timing, bad spark plugs/ignition, or it could just be an internal motor issue. I don't think it's a motor/mechanical issue since majority of the time wouldn't the noise be present with or without load?

 

Could be a bad water pump its rare but defects do happen.

 

is it tuned?

 

what grade gas you running consider that

 

Sounds like detonation. x2 on doood's post.

 

if this is spark knock, check your ignition timing.
