Want to check my chip (what/how/who?)
I have a p28 chipped ecu with a sst chip and a quick release with this car. I am doing a stock rebuild. The aspect of tuning and all the etcs are fuzzy to me and often times confusing when contimplating using crome hondata aem etc etc. I just want to see what kind of tune was running on this chip, and make sure that it is suitable for my motor so that it does not go pooof. What/how/who should I do with it? Ditch it and get another, send it out, find someone with a chip reader/burner to see what's what and possibly put a base map?
Find someone with a chip burner and have them read it. It would help if you knew what software was used to burn it.
Or get a new basemap from www.Xenocron.com
Or get a new basemap from www.Xenocron.com
Read the chip with the burner in Crome free, if it opens it is a Crome or oem file
Edit from there or make yourself a new basemap and go from there
i suppose its a good thing to look into if you plan on tuning and that sort of thing. Ill see who i can find locally that can do this for minimal cost and possibly look into this later down the road. Have any suggestions on good tuning books? There are tons out there, but to me this one looks to me like a good solid introductory.

That book is a good place to start. It covers pretty much all of the engine management and tuning components and how they work. Another good read would be this one; Performance Fuel Injection Systems Nether of these books are a step by step on how to tune using the software that is available for Honda's.
There are a few starter tutorials out there for some of the Honda tuning software. Xenocron.com has a good selection of DIY tech stuff on their Tech Center page.
To be honest with you. On a stock rebuild such as you are doing. You would be better off buying a stock ECU for your engine. Keep the chipped ECU for future builds and take the time to learn about tuning. Or you could sell it!

The Greg Banish books are great. Get both of them. The one you have linked focuses more on MAF systems but has quite a bit of good theory in it.
This one: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Des.../9781932494907 spends more time on speed-density systems, despite the Mustang on the cover. I reference back and forth between both of them.

Thanks, thanks, and many thanks. The car is obd1 though if I am not mistaken since its operating on ap28, but it did come with the stock ecu (98 gsr). Whats the cheapest option to get this safely running? Change the dizzy, wire harness, i possibly find it at pick n pull if im fast enough to get down there. Or hopefully be lucky n find someone with a chip burner just to put the base map on it?
