my daughters 03 civic is starting to set p1457 have cleared twice w/ generic scanner checked fuel cap checked lines to evap canister? i'm a gm tech so i understand that evap codes can be tricky. don't know if i can smoke the system w/ the cheap scanner we have at work? is there any known causes that i might be able to check? thank you

 

P1457: EVAP Control System Leakage (EVAP Canister System)

People always believe its the fuel cap, its hardly ever anymore. Disconnect a evap line under the hood, command the vent solenoid shut with your scanner, smoke the system. Should show up, I've had a lot of these with the canister purge solenoid, but you need to smoke it.
