ecu codes.
failed inspection. can someone give me the practical names for these codes and what needs to be done about them.
P1456 Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Control System Leakage (Fuel Tank System)
P1457 Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Control System Leakage (EVAP Canister System)

did you take out your charcoal canister? its the cylinder looking thing down below the battery with 2 tubes coming out. one going to the manifold and i cant remember the other
mmm no i dont think i took out anything. im not even sure what that is. i changed the fuel filter a while back but everything went smoothly with that. any other ideas?
mine had similar problems, minus the fuel. and i drove it for a lil while and it somehow straightened itself out. i am not sayin it will work for you, but it is an idea.
the EVAP codes can be caused by an improperly sealed gas cap....there is a rubber o-ring on the inside of the cap that deteriorates over time or can become mis-alligned, and cause that code to be thrown
the system running too lean could correlate back to the vapor canister and link these codes together, however it could also be a segregated code from the EVAP issues.....running too lean means that the o2 sensors are usually in working order and sensing the exhaust mixture is burning off incorrectly
a faulty fuel pressure regulator or any other fuel system issue causing not enough fuel to match the amount of air in combustion will throw this code

ok well the shop told me to get the stock intake back on there and thats where the codes came from. so i got it from ebay, it came all nice and in working order. i put it back on today, i made sure all clamped areas were tight and disconnected the battery to reset the ECU. 51.3 miles later it comes back on. so im stuck again. should i bring it back to the shop? or try on my own, an ideas?

ok haha. well it only costed like 45 bucks. but yea so what do i need to be looking at. like i have no problem replacing things, i can pretty much do all the work, i have a 60 day rejection sticker so theres no rush.
and the O2 sensor in the header, the front one is new. rear is not and its rusted(molded) onto the cat.
