I broke one of the bolts from the oil pump and i cant get it out. I tried drilling it out and using and extractor and broke the extractor inside the bolt. Im out of ideas on how to remove it. A friend said i can have it laser removed but not sure what this is. Anybody know how i can remove it or someplace i can take it and pay to have it removed. some where in socal.

 

Use high quality cobalt reverse drill bits, start small take your time.

 

I tried using a drill bit but it wont cut into the broken extractor thats already in the broken bolt. Would this cobalt drill bit be able to cut through the harder material of the broken extractor?

 

What brand of bits are you using? Drill bits get dull, and they don't cut into the material properly. I have broken drill bits and extractors off, and was able to drill them out. I like using the reverse bits for this. Use a thin penetrating oil like WD40, let it soak in for a while before you start drilling. Try to keep the bit centered as well as you can.

 

you could also use a good center punch and punch a good hole in the middle, then the drill bit would stay in better

 

ohhh man. I've done this and there was no success.. Try a small punch and hammer and see if you can work the bolt loose.. If not your bottom end is probably ruined.

 

If you try to remove the broken bolt by chiseling it out, you will most likely do more damage. If your not sure, try a good local machine shop. It really doesn't look that bad, so don't stress about it.

 

They were dewalt, not sure of the material, and yes most likely they are dull. I will try your method and see if i can get it out.

I hope not this is a full built benson sleeved laskey built block and spend alot of money. Im actually leaning towards paying someone to do it. I dont want to mess it up more than it already is. Anybody know about the laser removal?

 

Frikken laser beams? That's above my skill level, I never head of this method.
