Default Story of the Weekend right here

Hey guys so over the weekend on saturday i was driving home from school cruising on the freeway car running like a champ and all of a sudden i loose my pedal so i pulled over on the freeway... i popped the hood and started working under the hood turns out my throttle body cable got loose from the pedal so i was trying to tighten it. SO im under the hood working over my swap and i see a flashlight and a damn highway patrol walks up. He takes a look at my bay stares at it for a bit u know usual bolt ons with the wrong engine haha and while hes looking i ask him if i can use his flashlight i mean it was dark you know and he gives me a weird stare and passes it to me. Luckily he was cool and even called AAA for me then he left didnt say a damn word about my bay.

I can make an inference from this post that you live in CA? You don't mention that and most people in the US won't know what you are talking about when you say "wrong engine" since CA is probably the only state that really cracks down on that stuff.

You didn't have a phone? Just wondering. I can't leave home without it only because of those "just in case" moments. I would be pissed if I was stuck on the side of a road without a phone.

Either a "nice" cop, OP is not in CA, or the cop can not tell the diff. between a 1.8L, 2L or 2.2L I mean they do look a lot alike.

Lets just think he was a nice cop, they do exist. 94

I'm guessing the he's new at his job, haven't seen many engine bays, don't have much experience with Hondas and swaps. Have to admit, that's pretty lucky of you, if it was any other highway patrol...

I was in a similar situation a couple weeks ago. Driving on the freeway when my dizzy went out, rolled to a stop on an interchange behind an already abandoned Toyota. Lost my buddy & he had to circle around a cluster of freeways to get back to the shoulder of the interchange i had stopped on. In the meantime a cop showed up to handle the abandoned car situation & came across me there as well. Luckily I had already put my hood down & was just sitting inside waiting for assistance. He never asked me to pop the hood or check my car, very thankful for that. He ended up calling AAA for me and was on his way.

They aren't all horrible .

Well that is truly unworthy totaly unrelated to even a car.

Besides, it's always good to hear a member did not get pissed all over by a cop. 94

OK.....

so whats the "usual bolt ons with the wrong engine"?

Not trying to bash you to death but why should we be shocked by this story?

I have many of these story's and more to tell but why bother! just saying, maybe you have a awesome setup like a blown big block swap, full drag turbo setup or k swap or something wild that a c.a cop letting you by was the story of the weak for Honda community?

Because there are ways of running around and still being "legit" to the laws eyes that many of us here in c.a have learned to get around that.

I mean Just 2 weaks ago i got pulled over on the freeway and he asks me to pull under the light to check my motor. I tell him its my show car and everything is legit. Pointed to the carb numbers he needed to see and he thanks me and gives me a warning ticket and i go home driving my ATI supercharged Integra with full race ex ect. no sweat.

Its all about being legit. Have your carb info on all bolt on parts and act mature and you will get respect. This has happened to me over 5 times in the last few months.

ways to to get by,

Buy a AEM carb sticker and put it on your intake if you dont have a street legal intake.

Put a DC carb plate on your header if it aint street legal. or weld tabs and use the oem ITR heat shield to cover the race header.

use a s2000 or gutted cat.

use a Magna flow muffler and if your slick like me weld the oem gsr polished tip to the muffler and paint the muffler black with the poilished tip.

use a oem like finished aftermarket throtle body

If you got a turbo some have sourced a gready carb sticker for the gready turbo kit.
If you got a supercharger such as the JRSC even with the LHT mod, as long as you have the carb sticker your fine. Or vortech kit or ATI Pro charger kit. They all are street legal and cops cant tell what boost pulley your using.

Peel off the stickers on the rc injectors to make them look stock

I mean the list goes on. Its tech. info like that which benefits us not a pointless post with no details.

IDK where OP lives but it cracks me up you guys having to worry about these things. In North Dakota as long as your not drunk behind the wheel you're good to go. I'd bet big bucks that you could roll any skyline and a officer wouldn't bat an eye.

It's the same up here, we do not even have "Air Care" up here, although probably coming sometime soon.

Pretty much the same, as long as you are not drinking and driving, [stupid anyway] or racing, your good to go, any car can be "safetied", but that is for things like parts falling off the car, bald tires or lights not working, and unless it is bad, all you get is a repair and show proof of repair.

What they will get you for is things like racing, [you and someone else] a lot worse then just speeding, even doing a burnout at a light will get you a "stunting" ticket, and as long as you are below 92dB you can have any fart can on your car you want, oh one more thing, crank your 1000W system too loud, you can get a noise violation, but they have now started giving a undue care and attention, and that will cost you, and you better not be texting or using your cell without a bluetooth.

Other then the above we have it pretty good up here, relitively. 94
